About Us

On December 10, 1869, five friends and brothers established the Kappa Sigma fraternity at the University of Virginia. Since then, 335 chapters have been chartered and nearly 245,000 men have pledged to become faithful members of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

At North Carolina State University, the Beta-Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Sigma was chartered on February 23, 1903. 1114 men have become Kappa Sigma men though our chapter. This list of Beta-Upsilon initiates includes the current Worthy Grand Scribe, Gregory S. Hunt.

In each of the past eight years Beta-Upsilon has hosted an annual Alumni Golf Tournament at the Neuse Golf Club in Clayton, NC. This tournament has helped the chapter raise thousands of dollars for Kappa Sigma’s Military Heroes Campaign; an initiative that aids the Fisher House in providing temporary housing around military hospitals for the families of United States Soldiers wounded in action.

Kappa Sigma continues to be a dominating presence in athletics at North Carolina State. Last Spring, Beta-Upsilon was awarded NC State’s President Cup for being the overall champions in Intramural Sports, taking home championships in soccer, 4-on-4 flag football, tennis, and softball.

In the 1960′s Beta-Upsilon moved to 2613 Fraternity Court, where we stayed for some 45 years. Then, in 2005, the chapter moved next door to 2601 Fraternity Court where it currently resides. The chapter is diligently working to construct a brand new facility as part of NC State’s New Greek Village. We look forward to the start of construction on our new house in the very near future.
