Beta-Upsilon Alumni Brothers,
Over the last seven years we have been working with the university to develop the North Carolina State University Greek Village. As Centennial Campus develops and the university grows, the Greek Village will become a central part of the campus. Your chapter has continued to grow and while many other fraternities have lost charters, re-chartered and gone extinct, Kappa Sigma has excelled and become the strongest fraternity on campus.
Reef Ivey spent many hours helping us with the legal work on the project and I know that he was very supportive of the Greek Village. There have been many other alumni that have given time and money to make this dream a reality. In the Spring of 2009 we were required to present the preliminary drawings for the new house. Brothers James W. Smith ‘69, Walter G. Davis '68 and George M. Finch Jr ’72 have been instrumental in preparing the drawings and plans to get us ready to move forward with the project. But, as you all know it takes money to operate and we have incurred about $28,000 in bills as of today.
The recession has affected all of us in some manner, and therefore, we are being cautious as we move forward. FMG has agreed to help the undergraduates with the website, the chapter will pay the monthly maintenance for the site and I will cover the $1,700 that we owe FMG for services up to today. As we move forward, we need your donations to help cover the rest of this debt. They can be made out to the NC State Foundation office. All of these donations will go toward your lifetime giving. As always, please check with your tax advisor or accountant as to the deductibility of your donation.
If you have any questions about the project, please e-mail me or call me at 919-232-6324. We will keep the website (www.betaupsilon.com) updated with the Housing Project. As always, time is of the essence if we wish to continue with this project.
